Meet the Student Photographers from the 2025 DCF Calendar!

The 2025 Dartmouth College Fund calendar features photos from the winners of our third annual DCF student photography competition. We know for some people that it has been a long time since you have been able to visit campus, and we wanted to show the College from the perspectives of our undergraduate students. Enjoy reading more about the student photographers and the inspiration behind each image in the excerpts below that were edited by Abdul-Kudus ’26.

Audrey’s journey into photography began when she entered college and her father gifted her an old camera. Equipped with this new tool and access to the photo editing program Lightroom through Dartmouth's subscription, Audrey dove into learning techniques and experimenting with editing styles, quickly transforming photography from a casual interest into a beloved hobby.

This photo was taken during a WISP-led tour of the Baker Library Bell Tower. While the panoramic campus view from the top was stunning, Audrey found herself captivated by the peaceful beauty inside the tower. Surrounded by four massive lavender clocks, she felt the space had a calm, timeless quality—a hidden gem on campus. Now, whenever Baker Tower tours are offered, Audrey eagerly signs up, knowing she’ll reconnect with this serene, magical view.

Tobin began photographing natural landscapes on his iPod a decade ago and hasn’t put the camera down since. For Tobin, photography is a way to capture and share the beauty he sees in the world—a pursuit he’s proud to reflect in his growing portfolio.

This photo was taken during a study session on the second floor of Berry Library, one of his favorite spots. From this study room, Tobin enjoys a unique view of Baker Tower through the library windows. The image captures his study breaks, when he looks up at Baker, appreciating the familiar view.

Tea grew up alongside family and friends who appreciate the art of documentation. She recently discovered her parent's film camera from the 1990s and has grown to love the timeless quality of shooting on film. As a senior, she hopes to take a photography class and learn to develop her own photos.

For Tea, who calls sunny Southern California home, Hanover winters bring a unique sense of place. The snow encourages gratitude, warmth, and spontaneity. Sanborn is one of Tea's favorite places to study and read during snowy winter nights. Tea is proud of the relationships she has made and maintained throughout her time at Dartmouth, and of her commitment to forming a lifelong community here.

Harsh considers himself a casual photographer, pausing to capture scenes that catch his eye. For him, photography is a way to preserve moments, allowing him to relive them when nostalgia inevitably strikes.

He took this photo on a quiet walk to the library, where his gaze is often drawn upward to Baker Tower. This particular day, he noticed the snow-capped branches framing the tower beautifully. Though Harsh witnesses this scene frequently, he finds it captivating to see how it transforms with each season.

FT's passion for nature and wildlife inspired him to explore photography, using it to capture the beauty of the world around him. FT sees photography as a way to preserve memories and revisit the places and sights he’s experienced.

Rauner Library is one of FT’s favorite study spots, and this photo captures a moment of tranquility he experienced there. While studying on the top floor, he noticed sunlight streaming through the windows, casting a beautiful glow over the room. It was a view too captivating to pass up, prompting him to capture the scene.

Mariana has long enjoyed capturing her surroundings, memorable experiences, and friends as mementos of the fleeting present. Her love for film and media, paired with the natural beauty of Dartmouth’s campus, has not only filled her phone’s storage but also deepened her passion for freezing moving memories in time.

This photo was taken in the spring of 2023, when Mariana lived in Mid-Mass Hall. She aimed to capture the natural, symmetrical beauty of the path she walked daily, leading her back to her sophomore-year home.

Abdul’s journey into photography began in high school, inspired by a close friend whose skill for capturing emotion through images left a lasting impression on him. Motivated by this, Abdul picked up a camera and found his own path in visual storytelling.

This photo of the Hood Museum of Art symbolizes both Abdul’s personal and academic journey at Dartmouth. Through his classes, he has explored numerous exhibitions at the museum, each experience enriching his appreciation for visual storytelling. The museum’s photography exhibitions, in particular, have shaped his perspective as a photographer. Capturing the museum in this shot felt like a tribute to a space that continues to fuel his creativity, embodying the dynamic blend of art and education.

Chris discovered his love for photography in high school, where he found joy in the creative process and built formal portfolios. Though he set aside the camera during his first year at Dartmouth, he soon returned to photography, capturing events, portraits, and campus scenes.

For Chris, Dartmouth’s charm isn’t limited to its iconic Baker Tower and Dartmouth Hall; it’s also in the quieter, less prominent buildings that add to the campus’s unique atmosphere. This photo highlights one of these hidden architectural gems that often goes unnoticed.

Jessica sees photography as a way to preserve fleeting moments that evoke emotion, whether by telling a story, capturing a rare sight, or showcasing beauty. Since her early days with a simple digital camera, Jessica has pursued the art of capturing these moments to share how they move her.

In her first photo, taken while crossing the bridge from the Life Sciences Center, Jessica captures a vibrant sunset over campus. To her, this bridge symbolizes Dartmouth as a pathway, helping students from diverse backgrounds move toward bright futures. Her second photo, set at Rollins Chapel, reflects the quiet serenity of winter—a place for all to find a moment of peace.

Guided by the saying, 'Take a picture, it'll last longer,' Keira find that her favorite images are ones deeply tied to distinct memories.

This photo, taken from the top of Baker Bell Tower during her freshman Homecoming Weekend, is no exception. Despite the cloudy weather, Keira and her best friend decided to make the climb, capturing this tranquil view. To her, the image symbolizes calm within every storm—just a ninety-degree turn of the camera would have revealed the towering bonfire structure below on the Green, awaiting the weekend’s festivities.

Sydney grew up around her father’s love of photography, and over time, she’s come to see it as her own way of exploring new places. Whether at Dartmouth or abroad, photography has become her favorite method for capturing the beauty of her surroundings and experiences.

Her first photo of Baker Tower was a spontaneous shot taken on a run—a perfect example of being in the right place at the right time. For her, running and biking are the best ways to explore the Upper Valley. The second photo, taken by the Connecticut River, reflects Sydney’s need to find peaceful escapes, a place she turned to often that term after class.
